Kongsberg Automotive (KA) —a Norwegian auto part producer— informed last week that the plant located in the city of Easley, South Carolina, will be closed, to be relocated in Mexico as part of the program for competitiveness improvement. The company is planning to close its plant —which is currently producing parts for its fluids transmission system— during the first trimester of 2018. Kongsberg is also planning to close another six plants, most of them operating in Europe, which are part of its drive train and chassis divisions. In a context where the US Government has harshly criticized companies that sell products in the US market but are not producing in its territory, companies like the automotive firms Ford and Toyota have had to reformulate their investment plans that were announced in Mexico.
