- Edit - As timely clarified in the last paragraph, the figures in this report have been updated and can be consulted here:
Auto dealers in Mexico sold 115,362 new light vehicles in October, according to the latest data from the Inegi. Such figure is 6.4% lower than the 123,318 units reported by the Mexican Auto Industry Association (AMIA) during the same month of 2017.
Total sales in the first ten months of 2018 are now of 1,143,741 vehicles, that’s 7% less than the 1,230,166 cars and light trucks sold during the same period of 2017, according the data revealed by AMIA last year.
October results are the lowest since 2014, when auto dealers sold 100,923 vehicles, said Guillermo Rosales, Deputy General Director of the Mexican Association of Auto Dealers (AMDA), who forecasted that at the end of year total sales will be 5% lower than the total figure of 2017.
Rosales also clarified that this report is preliminary, because the SEAT brand had a delay in the delivery of its October sales, so it will be until next Wednesday when the final figure is announced.
