Metal Finishing Company, a Kansas-based supplier of surface treatment services for the aerospace industry, announced it will invest US$ 1 million at its facility in Chihuahua city, Northern Mexico, to install new equipment necessary for the execution of a new program related to the supply chain of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

According to company officials, the investment will be allocated in the installation of new painting booths and ovens for finishing processes.

Last month, Metal Finishing Company signed a multi-year deal with France based Figeac Aero Groupe to supply treatment services for the door program of the Dreamliner. The agreed services will be performed in Metal Finishing’s Wichita facilities as well as its Chihuahua facility.

“This deal was mostly made possible because of Metal Finishing Company’s unique distinction of having more special approvals for Boeing than any other company in the world,” said the company in a statement.

Metal Finishing Company opened the Chihuahua facility in April 2011 to service the rapidly expanding aerospace industry in Mexico. Initially focused on aluminum sheet metal products, the site has grown its capabilities to include inspection and processing of complex machined products as well.

The Chihuahua plant operates to the same high standards for quality and delivery as the US-based operations and is fully NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) accredited.

Some of Metal Finishing Company customers served from the Chihuahua plant are Bombardier, Boeing, Textron Aviation, Bell Helicopter, Gulfstream and Honda Jet.
