Sempra’s Mexican subsidiary Infraestructura Energética Nova, S.A.B. de C.V., IEnova, announced it executed a 15-year electricity supply contract with various subsidiaries of Mexican retailer El Puerto de Liverpool, S.A.B. de C.V., better known simply as Liverpool.

The electricity will be supplied by a new 125 MW solar power plant that will be located in the municipality of Benjamin Hill in the state of Sonora.

The plant, which will have the capacity to supply Liverpool and other large energy consumers, will begin operations in the second half of 2019. The project will have a capacity of 125 MW and an investment of approximately US$ 130 million.

IEnova will be responsible for all aspects of project implementation, including permitting, land and rights of way acquisition, engineering, procurement, construction, financing, operations, and maintenance.

“This initiative is aligned with IEnova’s firm commitment to the development of energy infrastructure in the country and strengthens its leadership position in the production of clean energy in Mexico,” said the company in a statement.
