After municipal officials in Queretaro revealed that an important investment by an automotive company would soon be announced for the installation of a research and development center in the city, state authorities confirmed during a press conference that it is the German auto supplier Continental who’s behind this project.

This company allocated about US$ 62 million and will open 1,100 positions for highly qualified personnel to start up in the technical center, from where it will work on technologies for autonomous vehicles, connected and electric cars, according to Jorge Vazquez Murillo, who will act as director of the facility that will begin to operate in the coming weeks.

Vazquez Murillo explained that Continental Automotive chose the entity for the accelerated growth it has had in recent years, the concentration of universities and the number of researchers per capita, which is among the highest in the country.

"This situation is reflected in the quality of the graduates that allows having a well-developed, solid engineering capacity and facilitates the generation of innovation, research and development," he added.
