Concord Packaging de Mexico, a Monterrey-based manufacturer of packaging solutions for the steel and metal-mechanics industries, considers to build a production plant in Nuevo Leon dedicated to the mass manufacturing of its proprietary automated packaging stations for rolled steel sheets.

Concord developed for Ternium an automated process called TurboPak that wraps the steel rolls with an anticorrosive paper. Now the goal is to build a plant with the capacity to serial produce those robots and export them to the world, Company director Victor Manuel Quinones revealed in an interview with El Financiero.

"The intention is to create a production line for the equipment. We would buy the steel from Ternium, we would forge and we would make the pieces of the TurboPack robots. A machine of these currently costs half a million dollars which would represent a great income for Mexico," Quinones said.

"We will be Ternium's customers and suppliers at the same time," he added.

At this time, the plant is in the pipeline with plans to start construction in a year or two. The facility would be located whether in the Apodaca or Pesqueria municipalities, and the initial investment would be around US$ 3 million.
