Some time ago, the Ministry of Communication and Transport announced the project for the creation of a new federal institution to replace the General Direction of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC). As of now, a new civil aviation bill has passed, and it must be supported with modern criteria and political good will to hence move forward with the issues that impact the air industry in Mexico. Mexican exports of this sector to the U.S. reached US$7.5 billion during 2016. This implies that all of the related institutions, such as DGAC, must not be left behind. A change, a deep reform or substitution is needed, to achieve a world-class DGAC.
