Students from the Aeronautic University in Queretaro (UNAQ) presented outstanding aerospace engineering and aeronautic manufacturing application projects at Mexico's 2016 National Contest of Aerospace Innovation, organized by Boeing Corporation, ProMexico and the Mexican Space Agency (AEM). The champion project, Unicopter, proposes an aircraft concept incorporating composite materials and resins in an oval design with helixes which enable it to take-off vertically. Another project is a smart app, which uses the Matlab platform to characterize and optimize the structure of an airplane's wing, with a mathematical model with the use of genetic algorithms.
