Main Mexican airports report air cargo traffic increase

The January-August period of 2018 ended with significant growth in cargo traffic for the main airports in Mexico, except for one, according to the Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil (DGAC).

The San Luis Potosi airport is the only one, out of the eight main airports, to report a drop in cargo handling. It accumulated 16,396 tons, a 6% decrease compared to 17,527 tons accumulated in the same period of 2017.

The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) registered 380,550 tons. This resulted in an increase of 10%, compared to the 346,112 tons of last year.

Next on the list is the Guadalajara International Airport, which reported a total of 106,092 tons, 1% more than the 104,785 tons registered in 2017. Monterrey, on the other hand, had a 3% increase when contrasting this year’s 35,926 tons with the 34,774 tons of 2017.

The Intercontinental Airport of Queretaro reported a 47% growth after 201,942 tons were reported, in proportion to the 23,127 tons of the previous year.

Toluca reached 23,786 tons, 20% more than the 19,840 tons of 2017. Cancun reported a cargo traffic of 21,115 tons, 11% more than the 19,037 tons of last year. Finally, Tijuana registered a 13% increase, as it accumulated 16,514 tons, compared to 14,568 tons of 2017.
