Eduardo Javier Solis Sánchez

Mr. Solis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economy from the University of Nuevo Leon and a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from the Universities of Chicago and Rochester. He joined the Ministry of Trade and Industrial Foster in 1990, and was responsible for agriculture and cattle-related issues in negotiations held for NAFTA and Free Trade Agreements entered with Costa Rica, Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela; he was also responsible for negotiations in the Uruguay Round of the World Trade Organization. From January 1995 to December 2000, he was responsible for the administration of NAFTA and Free Trade Agreements entered by Mexico with Latin American countries. From January 1995 to March 2001 he represented Mexico in negotiations related to the Free Trade Area of the Americas. In April 2001 he joined the Ministry of the Economy to promote foreign trade and investment and as of 2003 he was head of the Investment Promotion Unit in the Ministry of the Economy, being responsible to attract important strategic projects to Mexico. Since February 1, 2008 he is Executive President of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry.
