Starting in April, a reduced shift will be applied at the Volkswagen assembly plant in Puebla to adapt a certain segment of the workforce to the production needs of the all-new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, confirmed the Union leader, Rey David Garcia Avendano, during a recent press conference.

The official explained that under this scheme, workers at the facility 4 will see their shift reduced by 90 minutes a day and will also have a salary adjustment.

Despite not having official information from the company, the union leader said that it is an open secret the coming end of the production of the Beetle. "All models have a period of life, I do not have the exact date but all the cars have a period of life and I think it is just a matter of time," he said.

Also, the union has yet to receive official confirmation of the production, starting 2020, of a new SUV model at the Puebla facility, he said.
