Adient facility in State of Mexico, named one of the best plants in North America

Adient's seat manufacturing plant in Lerma, Mexico has been selected as one of the best plants in North America in IndustryWeek magazine's 2017 Best Plants Awards competition.

Adient is the global leader in automotive seating. Its Lerma facility is a just-in-time (JIT) plant that assembles components such as metal seat frames, foam and complete seats and produces trim covers for major automakers. The location has more than 800 employees.

The annual IndustryWeek Best Plants Awards program recognizes plants in North America that are on the leading edge of efforts to increase competitiveness; enhance customer satisfaction; and create stimulating and rewarding work environments.

All of the 238 plants in Adient's worldwide manufacturing network follow the Adient Manufacturing System (AMS) to ensure operational excellence, which was a contributing factor in the plant's selection.

"The Adient Manufacturing System allows us to achieve operational excellence and differentiate ourselves from our competitors," said Jeff Klabunde, executive director of manufacturing excellence for Adient. "AMS helps plants focus on the customer and maintain a stable operating environment while driving out waste."

"We are honored that Lerma has received this recognition," said Fernando Buchholz Valencia, plant manager of the Lerma facility. "Our employees' dedication to delivering outstanding service to our customers is one of the biggest reasons we received this award."

Adient owns 13 facilities in Mexico located in the states of Chihuahua (3), Coahuila (5), State of Mexico, Tamaulipas, Puebla, Queretaro and Tlaxcala.
