Aptiv, formerly Delphi, celebrates 40 years of manufacturing in Mexico

The first manufacturing site of Delphi in Mexico, now Aptiv, is kicking off its 40th anniversary celebration.
"This manufacturing site is pioneer for our Mexico operations," said Alejandro Quiroz, vice president of operations Aptiv Mexico. "This anniversary gives us a stand point to start our new commitment focused on autonomous vehicles."
The Aptiv Juarez I plant has been distinguished by the quality of their products and commitment of its employees. As a result, the facility was awarded with the Jim Spencer Lean Leadership Award.
The facility started operations in 1978 employing 500 workers to manufacture electric harnesses for Chevrolet models.
Nowadays, the plant manufactures electrical modules and printed circuit boards, while its workforce has grown to 1,349 strong.
Aptiv operates 6 manufacturing facilities in Juarez as well as the Mexico Technical Center. In this city alone, the company employs 11,400 workers.
