Illinois-based SEKO Logistics to open 20 locations in Mexico

Illinois-based transportation and warehousing services supplier SEKO Logistics has announced a massive expansion in Mexico aimed to establish an operation network in 20 locations across the country.

In its first phase, SEKO Logistics Mexico will operate from locations in Laredo/Nuevo Laredo, McAllen/Reynosa, Mexico City, Monterrey, Toluca, and Queretaro.

“SEKO is investing significantly to establish logistics centers and infrastructure needed to meet the growing client demand in the automotive, retail and aerospace industries,” said the company in a statement, which highlighted the opening of the first facility of nearly 10,000 square meters in the municipality of Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico, although it did not provide any investment figures.

This is the first project successfully completed under the direction of William J. Wascher, who took over as SEKO Logistics’ Chairman last month to focus on strategic initiatives for the company. In this full-time role, he is responsible for identifying new ways to grow the business with initiatives such as this ‘watershed’ expansion for SEKO in Mexico.

“This is a true milestone in the development of SEKO Logistics and will enable us to provide to clients in Mexico and other countries the unique forwarding, logistics and technology solutions that have successfully driven SEKO’s growth in the 40 existing countries where we already operate,” Wascher said. “The potential for us in Mexico is further enhanced by our network of nearly 60 locations right next door in the United States. Together, we offer the local and international expertise customers require and we are excited by the tremendous opportunities we see ahead.”

Manuel Diaz, newly-appointed Managing Director of SEKO Logistics Mexico, said that the company “will offer the scope and quality of services that will ensure best-in-class solutions, including airfreight and ocean logistics, ground transportation, warehousing and distribution, and customs and compliance within fully secured environments.
