A joint venture by Japanese manufacturers Atsumi Kogyo Co., Ltd. and Denko Techno Heat plans to invest US$ 17 million in order to establish machining operations in Leon, Guanajuato.

In recent days, officials from both companies broke ground at the Leon-Bajio Industrial Park (PILBA) to build its first plant in Mexico where 40 high-skilled jobs will be open in a first phase for the manufacture of ultra-precise metal components such as gears, variable valves and other parts for water pumps, torque converters and power steering.

It is worth noting how soon the joint venture plans to start operations. According to the timetable, the officials plan to have their facility ready in June in order to begin production test runs in July, aiming to manufacture their first pieces starting August.

An additional 50 positions are expected to open once the 20,000-square meters facility becomes fully operational.

The joint venture has already inked deals to supply parts for Tier 1 automotive suppliers such Samtech, NSK-Warner and Denso, companies that also operate manufacturing facilities in the state of the Guanajuato, specifically in the Guanajuato Puerto Interior complex, near Leon.
