Lohr Group, a French manufacturer of car transporter systems, announced plans to build a manufacturing plant in Tlaxcala state to supply products for both North and South America’s markets.

Lohr’s Mexican subsidiary acquired a 70,000 square-feet greenfield in the municipality of Calpulalpan, where it plans to invest US$ 10.8 million and recruit 182 workers in order to start operations by the end of year, said the government of Tlaxcala in a statement.

The company expects to make an additional US$ 35.6 million investment over the next five years to expand operations for a total US$ 46.4 million. Once the plant becomes fully operational its total workforce will be 240 employees.

"The plant will produce 400 units a year between bodies and trailers dedicated to the transportation of all types of vehicles, it is estimated that 85% of the production will be dedicated to exports in the United States and Latin America, while the rest will serve the Mexican market," explained Noel Cosme, general director of Lohr Mexico, who met with the governor of Tlaxcala, Marco Mena, to make him aware of the project.
