Cemex requests permits to build a US$ 20 million photovoltaic plant in Hidalgo

Mexico-based global building materials company Cemex plans to invest more than US$ 20.7 million to build a photovoltaic plant in the state of Hidalgo, according to public documents filed in order to receive authorization from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).

The gazette of this Secretariat, prepared by the General Direction of Impact and Environmental Risk, pointed out that the company Fotovoltaica GI 5 promoted the solar energy project since the early days of October.

The project named Planta Fotovoltaica Cemex Huichapan consists of photovoltaic plant of 15.4 megawatts (MW) with a peak of 19.35 MW connected to the cement plant that Cemex operates in the municipality of Hidalgo.

The project will require an area of 819,186 square meters (202.4 acres) divided into seven polygons to install 60 thousand 480 solar panels and 336 inverters. It is considered to have a useful life of 24 years.
