Eaton to close LED lights plant in Houston, will move some production to Mexico

Eaton Corp. announced it plans to shut down a facility in Houston which manufactures explosion-resistant lights, laying off 52 workers, the Houston Chronicle reported. The production work will be moved to facilities in Virginia, Mexico and China, said the paper citing a company’s spokesperson.

The plant produces Pauluhn-branded LED lights for offshore oil rigs, oil refineries and petrochemical plants as well as fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lights. Production will move to Eaton facilities in Roanoke, Va., Changzhou, China, and Mexico City. The move is expected to begin in December and be completed by the end of March.
