Mexican exports of commercial vehicles such heavy trucks, buses and tractor trucks totaled 11,515 units during September, the highest figure so far this year and a skyrocketing 66.7% boost compared to same month of 2016, according to the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Truck Producers (ANPACT for its acronym in Spanish).

Despite the increasing demand of heavy trucks overseas, Mexican production dropped 2.1% to 15,245 units due to particularly lower sales in the local market experienced during the ninth month of the year.

On a year-to-date basis, exports increased 0.2% to 83,909 commercial vehicles during the first nine months of 2017. Meanwhile, heavy truck assembly plants in Mexico built 112,799 units through September, which represents a 2.8% decrease compared to the same nine-month period of 2016.
