Mobis, a subsidiary of Hyundai Group, invested US$ 450 million to build two spare parts distribution centers in Nuevo Leon and the State of Mexico to support customer services for KIA and Hyundai.
Each facility has a 14,000 square meter footprint and capacity to store 920,000 spare parts, to supply the 85 dealers of KIA and the 56 of Hyundai in the country, said Carlos Ayon, after-sale manager of KIA during an open house at the State of Mexico distribution center, located in the municipality of Cuautitlan.
The company had already a distribution center in the State of Mexico, but those operations were shifted to the new facility which is 303% larger to serve the 143% increase in demand for parts in 2017.
Both facilities receive parts from Korea for the Rio, Forte, Optima, Stinger, Soul, Niro, Sportage and Sorento models; from Slovakia for the Sportage; and from Alabama for the Optima and also for the Sorento.
Now that both the Monterrey and Cuautitlan facilities are operational, the spare parts will arrive to dealerships in maximum three days, which is key to offer good after-sales service and to maintain customer satisfaction, said Ayon.
In addition, the Nuevo Leon center also consolidates and exports spare parts of Kia’s Forte and Rio models, as well as the Hyundai Accent, for the markets where these vehicles are sold, including the United States.
