Samsung Electronics Corporation is raising its bet on the automotive industry, with the announcement of investment valued at US$8 billion, to set up a business unit inside the Harman International Industries' plant to establish a self-driving vehicle products operations center, investing US$300 million for a new start up fund. The South Korean Company indicated that the self-driving division is going to compete in every area, ranging from driving algorithms, to systems integration, including a state-of-the-art platform to assist drivers with an open software to enable third-party engineers to build products from there.
