Mexican production of heavy vehicles up 1.9% in June

Mexico’s commercial vehicle industry manufactured 13,362 trucks, tractors trailers and buses in June, an increase of 1.9% compared to same month of 2017. Exports totaled 9,753 units, down 2.1% compared to June 2016, according to figures by the National Association of Buses, Trucks and Tractor Trailers (ANPACT for its acronym in Spanish).

During the first half of 2017 heavy truck manufacturers built in Mexico 68,830 units, down 12.1% compared to the same six-month period of 2016. Meanwhile, exports experienced a decline of 17.7% to 50,727 vehicles.

Miguel Elizalde, ANPACT Executive President, said that truck trailer production alone, which is the most exported product of the commercial vehicle industry, increased 23.9% during the first half of year. Exports of truck trailers also increased 23.1% from January through June, but no concrete figures were revealed by the official.
