Due to a change of plans for the assembly plant under construction in Guanajuato, Mexico, Toyota announced it will delay the start of operations from the first half of 2019 to early 2020, according to a report by Reuters which cites company officials.

“With the production model changed to the Tacoma pickup, the start of production will consequently be in the first half of 2020,” Toyota also confirmed to Motor Trend.

Last week, Toyota confirmed it will build the Tacoma pickup at the new Mexican plant instead of the Corolla. A Toyota spokesman in Mexico also revealed that the Guanajuato factory may add production lines for SUVs.
