Mexico’s heavy truck output dropped 20% in February

Mexico exported 7,500 heavy trucks during February, 24.6% less units than same month from 2016, according to figures by the National Association of Buses and Trucks (ANPACT).
Also in February, production of heavy trucks reach a total 10,038 units, a 20.4% drop compared to same month 2016.
For the first two months of 2017 Mexican exports totaled 14,583 units, 26.7% less compared to the 19,904 vehicles during the same period of 2016. Exports in the Class 8 trucks segment suffered the sharpest drops with 43.2% decrease.
Bimonthly production totaled 19,455 units, a 19.5% decrease. ANPACT officials named lower demand in the U.S. market as the main reason for the weak performance in the Mexican heavy truck manufacturing industry.
