The Bajio region (Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Queretaro and San Luis Potosi) has received FDI from Japanese companies adding up to a total of US$6.16 billion since 1999, from a total of US$13.41 billion received in Mexico. The Bajio States are some of the favorite among Japanese investors, as they have entered the top 11 States with the largest accumulated FDI between 1999 and 2016, with Guanajuato occupying the first spot nationally, with a US$2.67 billion add-up, followed by Aguascalientes, Mexico City and Nuevo Leon.
