Spain-based Global Energy Services completes wind farm in Coahuila

Spanish engineering company Global Energy Services (GES) has completed the construction and installation of a 200 MW wind farm for Portugal-based EDP Renováveis (EDPR), located in the Northern state of Coahuila.

The project is among the five biggest projects GES has constructed in the country and includes the whole BOP (Balance of Plant): civil works, medium voltage grid, step-up substation, high voltage grid and interconnection substation, said the company in a press release.

GES was also in charge of the installation of the 95 wind turbines of the wind farm. The project was executed under the high security and quality standards of the company.

The civil works included the 95 wind turbines foundations, 37.2 miles of roads and three bridges to access the wind farm. The electrical works included 100 kilometers of cable for the medium voltage grid and a 20 kilometers high voltage line.

“GES Mexico experience is guaranteed by more than ten years presence in the country, and a track record including more 733 MW constructed and 1 GW installed in wind. Mexico is one of the strategic markets for GES,” said the company.
