Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has selected tires from Sumitomo Rubber North America (SRNA) and Yokohama Tire Corp. as OE fitments on selected versions of the 2017 Jeep Compass, the car maker's compact four-wheel-drive SUV built in Mexico.

FCA has chosen SRNA's Falken Wildpeak H/T 01A2 as an OE fitment on the Compass Trailhawk and the all-season Yokohama Geolandar G055 as a fitment on the Compass's Latitude and Limited versions, according to press releases by both companies.

“The Wildpeak H/T01A2 tire is a natural fit for the Jeep Compass,” said Vice President of Marketing for Falken Tires, Rick Brennan. “Falken Tires specializes in tires made for on-and-off road exploration, which is a lifestyle that Jeep fully embraces in all their vehicles. We’re excited to continue and expand upon this partnership.”

“The Wildpeak H/T01A2 was also the original equipment tire for the 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk,” added Falken in its statement.

Meanwhile Andrew Zeisser, Yokohama Tire Corporation director of OE sales, said the Geolandar G055 was selected “after many years of testing and validation to provide a tire that meets the exacting specifications for FCA US”.

“It features all-season performance and extended treadlife, thanks to Yokohama’s advanced orange oil technology,” Zeisser added about its company’s product.
