Ceramic tile producer Interceramic (Internacional de Ceramica, S.A.B. de C.V.) announced plans to build a US$ 80 million plant in the central state of Guanajuato.

It will be the company’s tenth production facility in Mexico and the first outside the state of Chihuahua, where Interceramic is based.

According to a brief aimed for stock market regulators, the plant is already under construction in the municipality of San Luis de la Paz.

Once its first phase is operational, Intercemaric will manufacture up to 9 million square meters of floor tile per year. By the time the project enters third phase, the site will triple its yearly capacity.

The company estimates 140 direct and permanent jobs will be created.
