Tomato exports increased by over US$200 million in one year, underscored the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA). The sales of this vegetable generated income valued at US$1.74 billion between January and October 2016, which represents 15% annual growth rates. Besides, tomato was positioned as the most exported Mexican produce and the second most important among the 20 main agri-food products sold to other countries. Regarding production volume per State, Sinaloa is the first place, with 551,000 tons and a 21.6% participation; San Luis Potosi comes next, with 258,900 tons; Baja California is third, with 225,500 tons; followed by Michoacan, with 141,600 tons, and Jalisco with 121,300 tons.
