The shortage of staff qualified to create airplane components is inhibiting the growth of the aerospace cluster in Mexico.

The aerospace sector is rapidly growing at a global scale, creating the need to build components and airplanes, said Miguel Miranda, spokesperson of the Society of Automotive and Aeronautic Engineers (SAE) in Mexico.

He mentions that the companies that have arrived in Mexico have noticed that the labor force does not have the qualifications it should have, there is a need to update knowledge; the technological development is moving faster than the academia and engineers have to be brought to Mexico to teach actualization modules, but this comes with a cost.

In addition, qualified staff is sought after by companies offering better work conditions, which makes it difficult for other companies to cover such expenses and to have the required production levels.
